'Research has identified that there is an alarmingly high rate of cancer amongst people from black and minority ethnic communities. Cancer remains a major cause of death in these groups. Lower cure rates for some cancers are due to late diagnosis, lack of awareness and access to health care systems' (Cancer Black Care 2002). Currently, there is a lack of specialist agencies to help refugees or asylum seekers who are living with cancer. However, this web page has some links to organisations that are providing cancer information for specific social groups and these may be of value to health professionals and asylum
