Sickle cell disorders are sometimes called sickle cell disease. Examples include anaemia and haemoglobin SC disease and sickle Beta Thalassaemia. Sickle cell disorder is inherited disorders of the haemoglobin (HB) in the red blood cells. They are found in many parts of the world, particularly in people of Africa, Caribbean, Eastern Mediterranean, India, Middle Eastern or Pakistani origin or descent. Sickle cell disorders can affect people in different ways and can particularly affect children's health and their schooling.
