You are currently in: About HARP Mental Health and Well-being Resource

Our website has attempted to provide a range of topics from a variety of sources which we believe may be relevant to the overall mental well-being of asylum-seekers and refugees. We have not attempted to be prescriptive as we recognise that professionals work with a variety of approaches. We have attempted to encompass most of these and to allow the reader a wide choice of resources.

Practitioners may like to consider the socio-political and cultural context of the lives of asylum seekers and refugees and consider how they understand and construct these experiences. Practitioners may also reflect upon the appropriateness of relying entirely on western models of understanding in this context. Unfortunately, we are only able to make links to information already available on the web and this has inevitably influenced and limited the information available.
