Emergency multilingual phrasebook
This phrasebook, produced and updated by the British Red Cross Society with advice and funding from DH and endorsed by the British Association for Emergency Medicine (BAEM) is translated into 36 languages. It covers the most common medical questions and terms to help first contact staff communicate with patients who do not speak English and make an initial assessment while an interpreter is contacted.

DH /NHS Direct: NHS language and translation framework
NHS Direct provides a 24-hour telephone health advice and information service; it also provides a telephone interpreting and translation service. The framework agreement covers 24-hour access to interpreters on the telephone in any language with an emphasis on the provision of a UK based service. Tel: 0845 4647

Black Health Initiative: NHS resources for asylum seekers in the UK
This resource has been developed to assist staff to enable Asylum Seekers to access translated information on Health Services in England, there are National Guides for the whole of the UK ( National ) and also Regional Guides specific to the Leeds area ( Leeds Only ). Available in 16 languages, it covers topics such as The NHS, emergency health services, GPs, NHS Direct, other health services, interpreters.
